Meet Your Guide
Ralph Kunz
As your guide, I am very proud to be a dual citizen of the US and Switzerland and fortunate, over the years, to experience both cultures.
Although I was born and partly raised in the US, my Swiss heritage on my parent’s side traces back to 1636. At age 10, my family moved to the Northeastern region of Switzerland, which is one reason we are starting this trip in the Northeast. My Mother, siblings and extended family all live in Switzerland. As a teenager, I spent memorable years at a boarding school in the Berner Oberland region, which is another beautiful part of Switzerland that I came to know well so we will be spending time there as well. I also served in the Swiss military in this region where I was assigned to the Mountain Infantry, Light Mortar troop.
The Alps are breathtaking and I’m excited for you to experience their beauty and magnificence. Growing up, my family went on hiking vacations every year. I came to appreciate being in the mountains and understanding the risks one can encounter in the Alps. I am at ease in the mountains and with 10 years of ski patrol experience as well as years of first aid training, I have the awareness one needs to be safe be in the mountains.
I am married with 3 adult children and along with my wife of 34 years we have been visiting family and friends in Switzerland for 40 years and our children have been on almost every trip. The picture is of me hiking in the Jakobhorn region above Davos, the birth place of my mother.
Please join me for this very special trip.

Drive to the Rigi Kulm area with a stop at a mountain gorge, Rosenlai Schlucht. We will hike up the Rosenlai Mountian Gourge, a safe path will take the hikers past thundering waterfalls, romantic grottos and bizarre cliff formations in 45 minutes. The water swirls in the pockmarked glacier, flows over a rocky ledge, pushes it's way through a narrow strait, all the while frothing, bubbling and gurgling. The waters are powerful, breathtaking and refreshing.
